Power Inside the Word Of God

Every Sunday we come to church, listen to the sermon but the word is never retained in our hearts. It just remains in our notebooks. This is so unfortunate. We fall into problems and disappointment because there is no word in us. The word itself has the power to accomplish its purpose. You don’t have to do anything or try hard to achieve something, all you need is to receive the word in your heart and then the power in it will make all things possible.

Why do we fail to retain the word of God is our hearts? Satan has made you close your hearts such that it is not possible to reveal evil thoughts in you and in this way the word of God cannot flow in us. This path will always lead to death like Judas and Ananias. The word of God should work within us. If we listen and maintain it inside of our hearts, then its power will be revealed.

Let us talk about listening:

Joseph Samuel Gerald was named the best car seller in the Guinness Book of Record. For 15 years he had sold 13001 cars. One day he had a customer and he took 30 minutes explaining to her about the car. She did not buy the car though, but after she went home, she called him and told him that he really needed to buy a car. ‘However’ she continued ‘you continually talked about the car but you didn’t give me even a second to pour my heart out why I needed a car.’

Gerald was surprised. He was too much into selling cars and realized that he was that kind of person who does not listen to his clients. From that time Gerald started listening to his clients. Instead of explaining much about the car he would ask about the family, problems clients were going through and then the customers would open their hearts and pour all their problems to him and in this way, he managed to sell many cars. He became a marketing professional.

The first step to learning listening is to realize that you are that person who doesn’t listen at all. People have this self-trust that they are good listeners, that’s why whenever an issue arises they cannot solve it amicably.

In Korea, there was this person called Lee Chung. He worked at Music Instruments making company. Since he was a manager, he knew nothing about making those instruments, he just supervised.  But he had one short-coming, he never used to listen to his employees and for that reason, they nicknamed him leetoven.

He also had a handicapped son whose listening ability was getting worse day by day. Lee Chung wanted to make him a violin for many days. One day he decided to make his wish come true and since he didn’t know how to make a violin; he had to ask his employees to help him. In a violin, there is a part called RESONANCE TUBE. This part is very important; it must remain empty to deliver a good sound.

People should also have RESONANCE TUBE inside of us. This is to realize who clearly I am. In violin, resonance tube must be empty to make a beautiful sound. We truly have to empty ourselves and in this way, you can listen and receive the word of God with ease.  We should listen carefully to others to gain hearts of others. This is wisdom. For us to listen to the word of God, we must realize who clearly we are and empty whatever is in our hearts.

Nokia was established in the year 1865 as a paper making company. It was named best selling phone company in the year 2007 having sold 250 million phones in just 5 years. They had a philosophy: simple, strong and battery life. All this was achieved by the phone itself. They started developing this mind of trusting in themselves and they could not listen to their customers. Consumer demand also changed and smartphones were in demand. For this reason, Nokia company failed and Samsung and Apple started rising.

We live a bad spiritual life because we do not listen. Yes, we think we are listening but only with our ears and not our hearts. Satan has made us close our hearts and made us not to listen. Napoleon was a great warrior and emperor but he did not listen to his general when he asked him to engage Russian in a battle when it is snowing and he finally failed.

One day I had a spine problem. I went to the doctor and told me I have to receive an operation and it would cost me one million Kenyan shillings. I couldn’t raise such high amount of money and I thought of going back to Korea. I called Pastor Park and told him of my situation. He then advised me to use a spine rowing machine. I wanted to interject and tell him I have used it for long without any change but I decided to do as he told me. I thought I might be wrong about my reality. Pastor Park told me

Yohan!

You have faith!

You have great faith!

You are a man of faith!

I started calling myself a man of faith. Not because I am but because the servant of God has told me that I am. I received the word of God the way it is and that is how I got healed from my spine problem has not gone for an operation.  

John 5:25

When the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. Everyone can listen with his ears but not everyone can listen with the heart. How does Satan come inside of us? By listening to his voice. Likewise, God comes inside of us when we listen to his voice. In Genesis 3:1 Eve did not have the word of God in her heart. God had said that they shall surely die but Eve told serpent ‘lest we die’

People think they can draw a line of separation between the word of God and their thoughts by themselves. When they try and fail they say spiritual life is difficult. This is not true. When you receive the word of God, the word itself has power accomplish its purpose and in this way, you won’t work anymore but God will work for you.
