My Thoughts or Satan's Thoughts

Mathew 26:14

Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, and said unto them, what will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought an opportunity to betray him.

We have bad and evil thoughts arising from us every day. Sometimes you feel grieve, hatred toward someone and sometimes well feel much love. It is not unusual for us to have evil thoughts. Many are times we think these thoughts are part of our lives. We tend to see as if evil thoughts are actually from us. This is a deception.

Satan does not come to us through scary appearance. His best weapon is our mind. He puts certain thoughts in you which almost seem to be the truth of the matter. He gives us this thought to trust in our selves. You can try and imagine what was going through the mind of Judas Iscariot. “I have followed this man for three years and I don’t get paid. My wife is sick at home; my children don’t have enough to eat. Yes, truly I need money and this man seems not to bother.” You see, this thought is almost true to the reality.

John 13:2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;

John 13:27. Bible clearly says something about this. “As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him”. It is true Satan had already entered into the heart of Judas. The thoughts which Judas had were not from him but from Satan. Himself he couldn’t have thought of betraying Jesus, he had walked with him for three years, and he truly knew who Jesus was. He only received a small thought from Satan. He gave him the necessity of money at that particular time and Judas could not distinguish between the voice of Satan and his own.

Have you ever thought that the evil thoughts are from Satan and not from you? Satan does not instruct you kill directly. He first put a small hatred inside of you. You starting hating someone gradually and eventually end up killing that person. If from the beginning you knew this hatred wasn’t from you, then you’d have thrown it away immediately. However, we do not clearly distinguish Satan’s voice from our own.

In the heart of Judas, Satan gave him a small thought of greed. From that point, he started internalizing about the money. This was the voice of Satan. Judas would have come to Jesus and fellowship with him. He should have opened his heart and pour his problems to Jesus. “Jesus, I have this problem, my wife is sick at home. My children don’t have enough to eat and I really need money. Jesus, what should I do?” Then Jesus would have guided him accordingly. But Judas did not think about this, he accepted the voice of Satan and moved on to execute it.

Mathew 27:5

And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself”.

The sole purpose of Satan is to destroy us. He wants us to be away from the church. When people do gambling and drugs, they know with perfect clarity that it will result in addiction. However, Satan gives them this small thought, “If I want to quit, I will just quit at once” This, however, does not work. The work of Satan is to make us close our hearts so that we will not expose evil thoughts inside of us.

We all have darkness inside of us. Satan has put darkness in our hearts so that Holy Spirit cannot flow in our hearts. Our hearts cannot chase away the darkness. Inside of us, there is no power to overcome evil thoughts. Genesis 1,and the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light". The earth did not do anything, it just received the word of God and there was light which chased off the darkness. Yes, we have darkness in our hearts and by ourselves, we cannot overcome it. But when the word of God comes inside of us then it has the power to change. If Judas had fellowship with Jesus then he would have received guidance and the evil thoughts would have disappeared from him.

The earth itself did not do anything to change itself, it just opened its heart and God put his word inside and there was light. Inside the word of God, there is power to accomplish his purpose and the only way to get it is to open my heart, have fellowship and reveal the darkness inside of me and the Holy Spirit will flow in the heart which has the power to chase away the darkness. It is very important for me to know that the evil thoughts are not from me but are of Satan. When you know this, then it becomes very easy to throw them away.

Acts 5:40

And to him they agreed: and when they had called the apostles, and beaten them, they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.

The apostles were very happy to be seen worth to suffer for the name of Jesus Christ. Even though they were beaten and warned against preaching Jesus Christ, they did not stop. We have many difficulties inside of us which gives us an excuse not to preach the gospel. There are sickness and hunger and we tend to lean on this side. However, when we continually speak the word of God then it has power which will enable us to overcome all our challenges. Yes, the apostles had problems but when they only spoke to the word they had great power such that people put their sick on the road so that apostle’s shadow might pass over them and heal them.

In 2nd Kings, there is this little girl. She was taken a slave while she very young. In reality, she should have this heart of pain and revenge. But he had Holy Spirit flowing inside of her. She only spoke of Jesus. Yes, she had never seen anyone been healed of leprosy but she had the power to believe the servant of God was more than able to heal his master.

As I continue to speak the word of God, in my heart the Holy Spirit flows and gives me the power to overcome every challenge. You just have to draw a clear line between the voice of Satan and the voice of God. If Judas only realized the evil thoughts were from Satan then he wouldn’t have faced death. Let us open our hearts and have fellowship and darkness will disappear from our hearts. Amen.
